Azalea Answers the Call When Disaster Strikes
When disaster struck the southwest region of China known as Sichuan, the inhabitants' lives were turned upside down. Despite the widespread destruction, citizens of the area sought to get back to some semblance of normalcy, and Azalea helped by establishing an Internet Access Zone, come to be known by locals as the Loving Heart Internet Bar. Here, citizens can gain access to the Internet by logging onto Azalea's wireless mesh network, which was originally deployed for emergency response teams to establish wireless communications networks as they responded to the disaster.
Since deploying the wireless network, Azalea expanded it to provide those affected by the tragedy to go online to communicate with loved ones, search for news about friends and family both inside and outside the earthquake zone, and simply gain access to some sort of a normal life. Thousands of citizens in the area have been living in temporary "villages" as their towns and cities are literally being rebuilt from the ground up, and many have found solace and comfort in simply logging onto Azalea's wireless network.
Dujiangyan is located in the earthquake-stricken Sichuan Province in Southwest China.
